Mother's Little Helper

Mother's Little Helper

Drinks named in a funny way we're always particularly drawn to. Mother's Little Helper is definitely such a name. But also when looking through the list of ingredients we immediately knew we would like it. Sherry has become one of our favourite ingredients lately, being relatively neutral it pairs well with most other ingredients, at the same time keeping the drink's ABV on a moderate level. The small amount of elderflower liqueur in this recipe sweetens the drink in a subtle but sufficient way.

Old Alhambra

Old Alhambra

Always excited to make chocolate cocktails. In this one there is just a touch of it though, so it certainly doesn't overwhelm the cocktail. What it rather does is to smooth out the smokey scotch in a quite clever way. Left behind is a mellow and round cocktail, further enhanced by the rich cream sherry and some delicious vermouth. Still, we just had to shoot this cocktail surrounded by cacao nibs… Old Alhambra Recipe by Leo Robitschek Ingredients: 0,25 oz white crème de cacao 0,5 oz cream she

Madame Laveau

Madame Laveau

This is a recipe from the beautiful gem “The Nomad Cocktail Book”. We immediately fell for this cocktail seeing there was Strega in it. Strega is an Italian herbal liqueur which adds a load of flavour to any cocktail it's used in. The Madame Laveau cocktail lets the Strega shine through, while carefully letting its taste mix with other potent ingredients such as aquavit and rum. The result is a gorgeous recipe, elegantly balanced and packed with intricate flavors. Our friend Elin over at Travel

Tobacconist

Tobacconist

Almost tiki, but based on smokey mezcal and coffee. While we not at all encourage smoking tobacco, we can certainly understand how this cocktail got its name. The combination of flavors is really interesting. The very potent mezcal is paired with distinct flavors such as coffee, grapefruit juice and allspice! But just like in tiki drinks “more is more” and of course this recipe ends up being both delicious and memorable. Tobacconist Recipe by California Gold Ingredients: 1,5 oz mezcal 0,5 oz

Assembly Cocktail

Cognac in cocktails - yes we think it works really well. There is something luxurious with Cognac isn't there, just like with Champagne. And even if only three quarters of an ounce is used, the Cognac in this drink still shines through and define the whole experience. Mixing it with Drambuie, a type of whisky liqueur, is quite clever. It adds sweetness while enhancing the boozy Cognac at the same time. And yes, that awkward tiny amount of leftover honey syrup in our fridge was finally put into u

Soft Shock

Soft Shock

Another summer sipper; this is the Soft Shock by the editors of PUNCH. Being 50% a Gin & Tonic and 50% a Rebujito this highball gets quite Spanish, mixing two of Spain's most popular drinks. And it is quite understandable why these refreshing cocktails are so popular in sunny and hot Spain. With mint, sherry and tonic water, along with lots and lots of ice this is the ultimate remedy for warmness. And yes, that's ready-made Swedish Tonic [https://www.swedishtonic.com/] we are using! Sanlucar Sling

The Sanlucar Sling by Sahil Mehta [https://www.instagram.com/sahildmehta/]is another drink perfect for the warmer days. A highball cocktail with a lot of sherry, and then some cherry and walnut to make things really interesting and tasty. This was the perfect cocktail to try out one of our latest bottle buys in, Don Ciccio & Figli's Nocino Walnut Liqueur. [https://donciccioefigli.com/new-nocino] We were recently on holiday in Washington DC, which happens to be where this delicious liqueur is p

Sweep The Leg

Sweep The Leg

It was probably the long list of ingredients that made us interested in Sweep The Leg, by Brad Farran. Yes, a lot of measuring to be made here, but if you persist you are rewarded with a tiki like cocktail bursting with flavors. The whisky plays the leading role, but the supporting characters also deserve rewards. Orgeat has always been a favorite sweetener to us, and we still have a home made batch in our cocktail fridge. Sherry is what we are using more and more, loving its dry and low alcoho
