The Last Word

The Last Word

We have barrel aged a two liter batch of The Last Word since a few weeks, and now it's time for a first taste. What we immediately noticed is how the green colour, from the Chartreuse, has somehow faded a bit. We'll never find out if the inside of our barrel is now completely green, but nevermind. What's happened flavour wise is that the sweetness from the Chartreuse and the Maraschino liqueur has somehow decreased a bit, and instead the whole cocktail feels slightly stiffer and boozier. It's d

A(i)nt no S(c)herry

A(i)nt no S(c)herry - that's what we decided to call this Cocktail Detour original. It takes full advantage of the deliciousness of Maraschino liqueur and cherries as well as dry sherry. Schnitzelburg

Schnitzelburg

Kind of a Christmas drink it is, the Schnitzelburg cocktail. Mots de Caraïbes

Mots de Caraïbes

We've been waiting to open our bottle of rum Fire for a while. We wanted to decide on the perfect premiere cocktail to make with this rum that we've heard so many good things about. So finally we decided to make a Mots de Caraïbes by rum enthusiast Brian Di Maggio. Brian cleverly composed this drink as an equal part cocktail, combining the sweet rum with tart Suze and balancing it all with fresh maraschino liqueur and sour lime juice. It's a brilliant recipe, so delicious. Hands up for you Bri

Anotha' One

Anotha' One

So a few weeks ago we saw something very tempting in Tyler James's beautiful Instagram feed. It was a mezcal cocktail paired with Maraschino liqueur, and that combination certainly intrigued us. Judging by the many positive comments Tyler got on his post, several others also seemed to like his creation. It was an instant bookmark, and here is the outcome of when we made it at home. The cocktail is called Anotha' One and apart from the ingredients already mentioned it also has Cynar, lemon juice
