It's more than a month since we returned home from our visit to Japan, where we got to see Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo close up. It was two unforgettable weeks, and we feel so inspired by it, also when it comes to cocktailing. So we were extra thrilled when Kokoro gin [https://kokorogin.com/] reached out, asking us to create a cocktail with their gin and their liqueurs. We knew straight away we wanted to go as Japanese as possible, both in flavor and looks. Now the Kokoro gin is actually produc

Corpse Reviver No. 2

The Jawbox [https://jawboxgin.com/story] gin that we are using today is a particularly good one, made in Belfast. In the gin there are eleven different botanicals, one of them being local Belfast Black Mountain Heather. It's a potent and powerful gin that we knew we needed to use in a similarly styled cocktail. A classic Corpse Reviver No. 2 was decided upon. It is one of our favourite drinks, as we love both gin and Absinth. The licorice notes from the Absinth worked in perfect harmony with

We wanted to try the Illusionist Gin [https://www.theillusionist-gin.com/eng/home] in something else than a G&T and came up with the above recipe. It somehow captures summer with that elderflower in it, but also adds licorice notes from the much wonderful absinthe bitters. (If you don't have the bitters, just a drop of pure absinthe would work very well). The gin has a wonderful blue/purple colour which really complements the drink. This gin screams to be mixed with clear products, to fully s

This fritz-limo that Supersoda [https://supersoda.se/] sent us surely is summer in bottle. Not only does it taste of apple, elderflower and cherry, but it also has the most gorgeous ruby-red colour, screaming to be used in cocktails! As we had some strawberries left over, we thought we should make a strawberry-coloured drink. The pink gin from Gibson's was an obvious choice for base-spirit as it actually tastes strawberry! We like that it is still not overly sweet despite being a pink gin, an

Gin Crown

Tall gin drinks are great during the hotter months. This one which also has genever in it is a refreshing quencher with a gorgeous golden colour. The tiny amount of walnut liqueur is interesting. It feels almost unnecessary when you put it in the mix, but then you take a sip of the drink and immediately recognize that nutty flavour. It's a fun way of using liqueur almost as a bitter. L'Escolar Gin and Tonic Riff

L'Escolar Gin and Tonic Riff

Normally when tonic syrups are used there's always some sparkles added in the end, either regular club soda or even sparkling wine. What caught our attention in this recipe was the lack of bubbles. Instead concentrated tonic syrup is stirred with gin, Byrrh and bitters resulting in a very elegant cocktail. It shares characteristics with a classic gin and tonic, but is obviously more concentrated. By accident one of the photos we took got slightly off-angle. But maybe it was meant to be as o

Veritas

It's when the purple crème de cassis blends with the other three pale ingredients that this drink comes to live. Enhanced by some purple synthetic feathers and lime zest a really colourful cocktail is born. Crème de cassis is supposed to float on top of the drink in this recipe, but it just doesn't work. The density of the blackcurrant liqueur is way too high (thanks to the sugar) to work as a float. But even when the liqueur dives to the bottom of the glass it still looks pretty pretty. Secon

Ants in the Pants

With a name like that, there's no chance we would not shake the cocktail. Ants in the pants might not be what you get from drinking this cocktail, but it sure is fun thinking about how it got its name.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Here we are trying out a new sweet vermouth to us, the Carpano Classico, which is the sibling of the Antica Formula we used in one of our posts from last week. We also tried it neat and it's a rich and tasty vermouth that you could happily drink on its own. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ The glasses are thrift shop f
