Cromulent

Cromulent

CROMULENT Today's original cocktail borrows both its proportions and its composition from one of our favourite cocktails, The Last Word. The Cromulent ends up much more yellow compared to the brilliant original though. And this is because we use both yellow Chartreuse, Strega and lemon juice. And substituting the gin in this cocktail is dry vermouth. It brings the same bitterness as gin but with lower ABV. Also worth mentioning is that yellow Chartreuse is less alcohol strong compared to green

Petrichor

Petrichor

PETRICHOR In the middle of this week of Cocktail Detour original recipes we wanted to pay homage to our home country Sweden, and make an aquavit based cocktail. Now a few years ago no one would have thought of using aquavit in cocktails. But something has definitely happened and now we see aquavit in several cocktails, also when we are traveling in countries like USA, United Kingdom and Germany to name a few. And actually, aquavit works wonderfully well in cocktails. In the Petrichor we used O

Conflate

Conflate

CONFLATE #nakedgrouse_partner It's time to make our first original cocktail based on Naked Grouse Scotch Whisky. This whisky is particularly good in cocktails, and it blends very nicely with most fruits. So we wanted to use some kind of fruit juice in this recipe, without choosing the most obvious ones. Being intrigued by prune juice, we bought a bottle and started experimenting. Immediately striking is that prune juice is more or less whisky coloured. This is quite cool, because the cocktail

Effervescence

Effervescence

EFFERVESCENCE Here we wanted to create an original low ABV cocktail. We have been curious about Lillet Rouge for a while (after enjoying Lillet Blanc for a long while). The red version is a bit more fruity and maybe slightly sweeter than the white version. So we decided to pair it with bittersweet Aperol and sweet vermouth, and then top everything with club soda to get the sparkles going, and to further lower the ABV. We knew beforehand, just by looking at the bottles, that we would end up wit

Ineffable

Ineffable

INEFFABLE We are so tremendously excited and proud to present one Cocktail Detour original recipe each day this whole week. For the last few months we have secretly been experimenting, tasting, trying and then started all over again. The final seven cocktails that made it into this original week all passed the taste test as well as the look test. And we kick off with this intensely orange cocktail, made with carrot juice. It's the first time we use carrot juice in cocktails, and we are really

La Rosa Louisiane

La Rosa Louisiane

Peychauds is a quite astonishing cocktail ingredient. Not only is it a very versatile bitter, found in both classic and contemporary drinks. But it also gives drinks a very beautiful pink to red colour when mixed with clear spirits. A very good example of this is a cocktail called La Rosa Louisiane by Will (who makes up 50 percent of the inspiring @kaleandcocktail Instagram account). This cocktail is boozy, herbal and bitter. And we love it!! La Rosa Louisiane Recipe Ingredients: 2 oz gin 0,

Masonic

Masonic

The Masonic cocktail is composed by Swedish super mega star Madeleine Solo Rapp @madeleinesolorapp [https://www.instagram.com/madeleinesolorapp/] residing at The Dead Rabbit bar in New York City. So despite the mezcal, sherry and amaro Montenegro in Madeleine's cocktail, incorporating a small Swedish flag in this shoot still felt very appropriate. We adore cocktails like this one, sounding quite simple by just reading the recipe and seeing three ingredients. But then already on the first sip y

Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing

Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing

“Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing” Yep, that's the rather striking name of this peculiar cocktail from The Independent in Boston. What made it catch our interest was mainly that huge amount of Angostura bitters in it, a full half of an ounce! It sounded overwhelming… However, before actually making this cocktail we decided to try some Angostura bitters neat. Our preconception was that it would be extremely bitter, so we were actually a bit surprised to discover how smooth, and gingerbread
