Femme Fatale

Femme Fatale

A huge inspiration to us is Madeleine Solo Rapp [https://www.instagram.com/madeleinesolorapp/] - she's a very experienced bartender having worked at some high profile bars around the world. This is her “Femme Fatale” that she created while bartending at the Dead Rabbit bar in New York City. We love that this cocktail features a very Swedish ingredient, lingonberry preserves. Because yes, Madeleine is Swedish, and we think it's very cool how this every now and then shows in her cocktail recipe

CLOCKWORK ORANGE

CLOCKWORK ORANGE

This is an intriguing mix of three powerful flavors; akvavit, coffee and Aperol. It is nice how well they work together in the same glass. The Witches

The Witches

We thought the mix of green Chartreuse and akvavit was interesting. And it worked out really well. The slightly bitter akvavit paired with the sweet and herbal Chartreuse was perfect, and the sherry balances everything nicely and also helps taking down the alcohol by volume a bit. The Witches Recipe by Chantal Tseng Ingredients: 1,25 oz akvavit 1 oz manzanilla sherry 0,5 oz green Chartreuse Mixing: Stir all ingredients with fresh ice and strain into a coupe. Glassware: coupe

Blood & Skar

Blood & Skar

This is a Blood and Sand riff, using akvavit rather than rum. It makes this cocktail much more Scandinavian, and as Swedes that's something we have to love. By the way, anybody knows the Swedish word for blood? And even trickier, what's the Swedish word for sand? The glassware deserves a mentioning of its own. We were gifted this glass a few years ago, and we only use it for bold, confident and daring cocktails. Blod & Skar is certainly such a cocktail. Blod & Skar Recipe by Sean Davey Ing

Edda

Edda

Hven is a tiny island outside the Swedish southwest coast. There are only about 300-400 inhabitants on the island, but it still has its own whisky and gin distillery [http://www.backafallsbyn.se/hem]! In this post we are trying their navy strength gin together with their akvavit. In the recipe for an Edda cocktail, those two ingredients are mixed with vermouth and birch liqueur to create a rather Nordic cocktail. And look at those pointy and pretty bottles! You can tell so much love goes i

Vasastan Vesper

Vasastan Vesper

So, technically this drink is not really a Vesper, we know. But those into Swedish geography will get the word play, and we wanted to keep this post very Swedish. Because what could be more Swedish, or at least Scandinavian, than akvavit? For a long time it was only consumed neat, accompanying the Swedish “smorgasbords” both during Easter, Midsummer and Christmas. But something has changed, and now akvavit is a key ingredient in so many cocktails, and it's found at different bars throughout t

Amber and Wine

Amber and Wine

A few weeks ago we celebrated midsummer in Sweden. It is one of the occasions when drinking akvavit is extra appropriate. Akvavit is a traditional, strong and spicy spirit that is consumed throughout the Nordic countries. This brand new version from Stockholms Bränneri [http://www.stockholmsbranneri.com/] is flavoured with dill flower, elderflower and juniper. And especially because of the juniper this akvavit has a certain gin feeling to it, which is absolutely delicious. In this recipe the

Time Bomb

When Steve of @boxesandbooze [https://www.instagram.com/boxesandbooze/] told us he had a puzzle box by a Swedish cabinet maker to showcase, and that he wanted to find a cocktail to pair it with we couldn't resist but to help in the search.⁣ ⁣ Because that's what Steve does, both on Instagram and on his blog. He pairs collectable hand made puzzle boxes with cocktails, and his approach is both unique and fascinating. And he certainly finds the most exquisite boxes, little pieces of art and craft
