There was a period when we met Tiff & Joe of @twocoupes [https://www.instagram.com/twocoupes/] quite often. It happened first in New York City at the Maze bar. Then Tiff's dancing brought her via a cruise to a brief stop to Sweden and we had lunch with her. Fast forward and Tiff was back in Stockholm but this time also bringing Joe. And then late 2019 we visited them again in New York City. But since then, the pandemic has somehow stopped these fun meetups. So instead we are now making one of

Court Royale

Court Royale

We've been making a lot of yellow cocktails lately, and here is another one. It was the combination of gin and applejack that got us interested, but it is the lemon juice and the Lillet Blanc that give the drink its colour. All ingredients contribute to the great flavour though, and the cocktail is really enjoyable. Cheers and happy Saturday. Court Royale Recipe by Julien Calella Ingredients: 1 oz London dry gin 0,75 oz Lillet Blanc 0,75 oz fresh lemon juice 0,5 oz applejack 0,5 oz simp

Swan Song

Swan Song

Not sure what swan song really sounds like, but it's easier to imagine while sipping this bird-themed cocktail. Mixing brandy and applejack is quite brilliant. Also the added orange juice brings a sour note to the drink while the tiny amount of grenadine both colors and flavors the drink. The prop feathers are synthetic by the way, and they have been nowhere near a swan we can assure. Swan Song Recipe Ingredients: 1 oz brandy 1 oz applejack 1 oz fresh orange juice 4 dashes grenadine Mixing:

The Winter Of Our Content

The Winter Of Our Content

This is low ABV cocktail “The Winter Of Our Content” by Toby Maloney. It uses Licor 43, a Spanish vanilla and herb liqueur that we are trying for the first time in a cocktail. And what's the reason? Well, we recently spent a few days of vacation in Spain, and at the airport on our way home there was a massive campaign for Licor 43. Wanting to bring something Spanish back home to Sweden, a bottle of this local liqueur felt like a clever buy. Now there's not a lot of Licor 43 in the cocktail, bu

Sunset at Gowanus

Sunset at Gowanus

We've chosen to disguise a Sunset at Gowanus, by Alex Day, as a tiki cocktail. Because all that rum, Chartreuse and lime definitely evoke tropical feelings: Some time ago we were gifted a taste sample of a small-batch-rum, produced by To Gents @togents [https://www.instagram.com/togents/] in Denmark. The rum is called Redrum, and it's delicious! Being a very flavorful and aromatic rum we'd say it's perfect in tiki cocktails, as well as other rum cocktails mixed with strong and characteristic in

Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing

Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing

“Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing” Yep, that's the rather striking name of this peculiar cocktail from The Independent in Boston. What made it catch our interest was mainly that huge amount of Angostura bitters in it, a full half of an ounce! It sounded overwhelming… However, before actually making this cocktail we decided to try some Angostura bitters neat. Our preconception was that it would be extremely bitter, so we were actually a bit surprised to discover how smooth, and gingerbread

Mr. October

Mr. October

Mr. October it's called, although we made it in February. This elegant cocktail by Timothy Miner is best seen from above, as it's garnished with freshly grated nutmeg. With that nutmeg floating on top of this yellow cocktail, we thought it almost looks like some kind of planet or celestial body. Maybe even the sun? We love the use of spices in this drink. The nutmeg adds a real earthy tone to the whole creation, while the cinnamon syrup contributes with a wintery note. Then there is the very po
