Forty Thieves

Forty Thieves

Ok, prepare yourself for an absolutely unique and delicious drink! The Forty Thieves cocktail by Gino Pellarin kind of blew us away already on the first sip. There is so much going on at the same time, but somehow all those ingredients play very well together and marry into something quite spectacular. The recipe we found in The Nomad Cocktail Book. Yes, we finally bought their cookbook just to get hold of the attached cocktail book. Actually just this single cocktail made it worth it, it's tha

Enchanted Orchard

Enchanted Orchard

We thought there was something almost fairy tale-like over the Enchanted Orchard cocktail by Joaquin Simó from Death & Co. The name of the drink makes us think about magic forests, strange creatures . . . and unicorns for some reason. We wanted to shoot the cocktail while it was dark outside, and just have some lit candles in the background to further enhance the mysterious theme. The cinnamon sticks used as garnish also help to make you think of trees and forests with every sip. And this is a

Tonic Margarita

Tonic Margarita

Our love for mezcal continues to grow, and in this Tonic Margarita we are only mixing it with lime juice, tonic syrup and simple syrup. There is a noticeable difference between tequila and mezcal. The latter one has more of a smoky profile, not completely unlike a smoky whisky. It's a really good cocktail ingredient which this particular drink proves. We photographed the cocktail outside while it was raining. We thought the wet surface on the balcony table looked good and wanted to make use of

Blood and Sand

Blood and Sand

The Blood and Sand is a classic cocktail for a reason. That combination os smoky scotch, cherry Heering and orange juice works so well. And it's obviously the cherry Heering that bloodstains the cocktail, but when it tastes as delicious as here, that's perfectly fine! And the combination of scotch and orange juice is also interesting. The acidity from the juice, and the smoke from the scotch create a very pleasant and unique profile for this cocktail. Hard to describe in words, but delicious to

Dark and Stormy

Dark and Stormy

The Dark and Stormy is normally made with rum (the dark) and ginger beer (the stormy). In Death & Co's recipe the ginger beer is rather substituted with ginger syrup and club soda. It's quite clever as this allows for individual decisions on how ginger-intense you want to go, and how much sparkles you want. We served this cocktail to our guests at a dinner party. It kicks off the evening in a fun way. That ginger taste is a good conversation starter to begin with. And if you plan to serve more

Anotha' One

Anotha' One

So a few weeks ago we saw something very tempting in Tyler James's beautiful Instagram feed. It was a mezcal cocktail paired with Maraschino liqueur, and that combination certainly intrigued us. Judging by the many positive comments Tyler got on his post, several others also seemed to like his creation. It was an instant bookmark, and here is the outcome of when we made it at home. The cocktail is called Anotha' One and apart from the ingredients already mentioned it also has Cynar, lemon juice

Vichy Cycle

Vichy Cycle

When traveling abroad we always try to bring back home some local spirits. So when we recently visited Berlin we bought a few small bottles of Kuemmerling, a “kräuterlikör” meaning it's made of herbs. Then started the search for the perfect cocktail in which this new acquisition would be able to shine. Soon we found the Vichy Cycle by Erik Hakkinen. It mixes the Kuemmerling with Calvados and dry vermouth, hence creating a rather bitter cocktail. The drink gets brown, rich and strong. It's real

The Italian Job

The Italian Job

This cocktail, The Italian Job by Joseph Akhavan, is easily one of the most delicious and delicate drinks we've ever made at home. To us is has it all; good ingredients, a catchy name, an easy to remember equal part recipe and a stunning colour. It's the kind of cocktail that just begs to be photographed and featured online. So what's in it? Well it's a delicious blend of Smith & Cross rum, Cocchi Americano, Aperol and Byrrh. As it's an equal part recipe it's easy to scale, for example if you w
