Carlbaum's Enhanced Negroni

Carlbaum's Enhanced Negroni

As Negroni Week continues so does our Negroni-experimenting. Here we are trying out a drink mixer from Carlbaum's, substituting both the Campari and the sweet vermouth. We are also spicing things up a bit by adding some amaro which we think is a fun addition. It can also be varied for eternity given all good amari out there. We hope everybody continues to enjoy Negroni Week. And, we are not done posting Negronis quite yet, see you on Saturday again! Carlbaum's Enhanced Negroni Recipe Ingred

Blood Orange Negroni Poptail

Blood Orange Negroni Poptail

Negroni Week has started and we are thrilled to kick it off with a frozen blood orange Negroni. We made it ourselves, and it was surprisingly easy. As the Swedish summer is warming us, it's quite fitting to enjoy these poptails right now. They are refreshingly ice cold, and they certainly taste like a Negroni - just in its frozen form. We are excited to see all the wonderful Negronis made by people all over the world this week. Expect to see a few more from us during the rest of the week. B

Described as a 4 parts Negroni and 3 parts The Last Word cocktail we could do nothing but to capitulate and instantly shake up this drink. It basically mixes our two all time favorite cocktails into one.⁣ ⁣ What's interesting is how the rather small amount of green Chartreuse shines through and still somehow defines the drink - it even manages to mellow the Campari quite a bit. ⁣ ⁣ The Carpano Antica Formula is definitely our go to bottle when recipes call for sweet vermouth. It's of high qual

Ok, let's be honest - this post is more about the peculiar glassware, than the actual cocktail.⠀ ⠀ We found these two glasses, with built-in glass straws, in a thrift shop and had to buy them. They're heart-shaped, literally speaking, which gets quite obvious when they're filled with a raspberry based drink.⠀ ⠀ Ditching disposable straws is very easy if you have glassware like this. They're a pain to clean though… ⠀ But let's not forget about the drink, it is a good one. Sharing some similaritie

Now don't get us wrong - we love to mix drinks from scratch. But when we were asked to try out Swedish drink mixers from Carlbaum's [http://carlbaums.nu/] we couldn't resist. They craft their small batch mixers using Primofiori-lemons from Spanish Murcia. And you can definitely taste those lovely lemons. Despite there being both rhubarb and elderflower in the mix, the sweetness from those is very well balanced thanks to the lemons. It's truly delicious and the drink that was very quickly crea

Nutty Basil

Nutty Basil

We are using our home-grown basil in a rather unusual drink today. First we turned the fresh basil into a syrup by simply muddling a handful of leaves at the bottom of a shaker, then adding some regular simple syrup. The syrup is then paired with this peculiar olive gin that we've used once before. It works very well with other earthy flavours, such as those from basil. Also super intriguing is the white wine vinegar, bringing up the acidic levels as well as noticeably flavouring the drink.

Oh, are there some nice ingredients in this one?! Cognac cocktails are always so luxurious - just like sipping Champagne. This is probably the first time we've seen it paired with genever though, and we think they work brilliantly together.⁣ ⁣ The addition of Punt e Mes and a tiny amount of Fernet-Branca gives the drink both its amber colour as well as some intriguing taste.⁣ ⁣ For us this was a great nightcap, and it's one we will probably enjoy more times. In the photos we tried our best to
