Koffie & Tonic

Koffie & Tonic

We have always been coffee drinkers, and the last few years we've really started to also enjoy cold coffee. It is of course nice to use coffee in cocktails, and for that purpose, cold brew coffee is extra convenient as it gives a lot of flavour without diluting the drink. In this recipe we used Mode cold brew coffee concentrate [http://modecoldbrew.com/] which means we were able to pack in even more coffee flavour. When it's combined with bitter tonic water and genever a super interesting dri

Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned

We've posted a few variations throughout the years, but believe it or not this is our first post of the classic Old Fashioned recipe. A cocktail cannot get more iconic can it? Watching old movies or TV-series where cocktails are featured, it's almost always an Old Fashioned (or well, possibly a Dry Martini). What we especially appreciate about an Old Fashioned is its many layers, despite its relatively simple and straightforward recipe. That whisky combined with just sugar and two bitters t

North to Alaska

North to Alaska

Recently we hosted a board-game-dinner. As we we had chosen a game with a long playing-time (more than two hours) we wanted to start as soon as our guests arrived. Hence we decided to make one of the recipes in Sarah Baird's beautiful book Flask. In the book the North to Alaska drink is suggested as a New Year's Eve cocktail. However we can assure it also works perfectly for gaming nights. Offering your guests a bubbly cocktail immediately sets the mood, and of course the rest of the evening

Whisky Highball

Whisky Highball

This is such a simple cocktail, yet it is surprisingly complex. Something happens when whisky is mixed with sparkling water. With this gorgeous drink we would like to wish everybody a happy Friday! Whisky Highball Ingredients: 1-3 oz whisky Mixing: In a highball glass add 1-3 oz of whisky according to taste and mood. Top up with club soda and gently stir. Potentially add ice cubes and then drink immediately. Glassware: highball

While tiki mugs are a lot of fun, and we do have several at home, it is also fun to see tiki drinks served in regular coupes. The Parasol is such a great example. Being super yellow, containing a hefty amount of rum, tasting of banana and pineapple and being garnished with nutmeg this drink screams tiki even inside a coupe. Being sort of a a banana daiquiri, we could see this cocktail being a crowdpleaser. Evoking those tropical feelings, it does exactly what a good tiki drink should do. Pa

Golden Hour

Golden Hour

We recently had drinks at Dear Irving [https://www.dearirving.com/dearirving-gramercy] and one of our favourite cocktails on their current menu is the Golden Hour. It is a perfect mix of light and sweet Italicus, dry sherry, bitter Suze and refreshing Cocchi. And that salty olive oil makes the perfect edible garnish, complementing the cocktail extremely well. We love that Dear Irving are sharing the recipes for a lot of their drinks in their Instagram feed. Definitely worth checking out. And

Edda

Edda

Hven is a tiny island outside the Swedish southwest coast. There are only about 300-400 inhabitants on the island, but it still has its own whisky and gin distillery [http://www.backafallsbyn.se/hem]! In this post we are trying their navy strength gin together with their akvavit. In the recipe for an Edda cocktail, those two ingredients are mixed with vermouth and birch liqueur to create a rather Nordic cocktail. And look at those pointy and pretty bottles! You can tell so much love goes i

During Sundays mocktails are extra nice. A mocktail is an alcohol free cocktail that does not compromise on composition, flavour and complexity. Gnista [https://www.gnistaspirits.com/] is a new product to the market. It resembles a brown spirit such as whisky or Cognac, but it is zero ABV. We thought it would be fun to come up with an original mocktail using it. We decided to use a classic whisky sour as inspiration. We swapped whisky for Gnista and added lemon for acidity and maple syrup
